CHEL’LE
Chel’le born as Michel’le Marie Wilson was named by her mom after the R&B singer. Chel’le is an American Pop singer, songwriter, vocal producer, actress and rapper. Chel’le was born to Jenarda Boyd, in Cleveland Ohio on June 30th 1990. She comes from a family who has been involved in the music business. Chel’le’s Grandmother Maureen Boyd worked for Motown Records and married Jody Sims of the group Switch (managed by Jermaine Jackson). Chel’le’s mother and stepfather managed an artist named Alfonso who was in a group called Coffee Brown in the late 90’s.She is also the cousin of Hip Hop Artist Wish Bone in Bone-Thugs and Harmony. From The time she could walk and talk she’s been singing, and dancing. “I remember sitting in the backseat of the car singing every song that came on the radio. Hoping one day it would be me.
At the age of five Chel’le then began writing songs for her and her siblings to sing. She would choreograph dance moves for performances that they would give on holidays. At the age of ten Chel’le formed an all girl group consisting of two other family members, they called themselves First Hand. At the age of twelve years old Chel’le participated in a talent show in Warrensville, Ohio at the Randall Park Mall and took second place
Chel’le moved to California in 2003, at the age of thirteen. “ I knew that I would find my success as a singer, knowing that Hollywood was the land of the stars.” At the age of fifteen Chel’le was introduced to the studio by her manager where she recorded her first hook with an unknown artist by the name of Lieutenant on a song called, “Only 17”. She also recorded her first song featuring Lil Flip, called “Ain’t Worth it”.
Once her contract was up with her manager she continues writing, arranging and vocal producing her own music. She performed numerous times for nonprofit organizations, and also did a performance for the church of scientology.” I have had the pleasure of recently working with Grammy Award winning songwriter Diane Warren, her engineer found Chel’le singing on You Tube. Chel’le has also written and sang hooks for rapper known as Yuk Mouth and has also written a song with song writer Jaden the Cure.
Chel’le is inspired by her mother who has always believed in her talent and her family and friends. She is also inspired by artist Christina Aguilar, Brittany Spears, Monica, Pink and Destiny Child. “ I just enjoy making music that everyone can enjoy and relate to, music is my Passion.”
